Internal Audit
At DM, we prioritise effective governance, We execute internal audits by careful consideration of proportionality and appropriate governance parameters. Our approach is strategic and long term. We operate on a three-year horizon, underpinned by a meticulously crafted annual audit plan. This approach not only ensures the independence of our internal audit function, but also guarantees its smooth operation. By adhering to these principles, we maintain the integrity of our internal audit process – ensuring it provides a robust platform for organisational improvement.
We also embed the DORA requirements for testing the risk framework regularly.
Assurance
DM’s assurance team offers a broad spectrum of assurance services. Our expertise extends beyond second-line monitoring or dual-purpose testing where we evaluate your risk and control framework (pre-ISAE testing). We also serve as external auditors, providing independent assurance for your ISAE 3402 and ISAE 3000 reports. Our multi-faceted approach ensures that you receive comprehensive assurance from every angle – fostering trust and confidence in your systems and processes.
Maturity Scan
DM’s maturity scan service offers independent feedback on your current organisational setup. This includes a thorough analysis of the risks identified and the controls designed using relevant laws and regulations as our point of reference. Our maturity scan delivers a review of the state of the organisation on a specific date, from which we provide feedback and guide you towards areas of improvement. Martin Stravers
Managing Director
Martin started his career at EY in 1994 until he co-founded Solutional (now DM Netherlands) with Marco van Empel and Roger van den Berg in 2005. Martin is a qualified Registered Auditor in the Netherlands (RA) and EMITA (Executive Master in IT Auditing). Martin’s role as Chairman of the Knowledge Committee in DM means he has overall responsibility for overseeing, maintaining, and improving the quality-of-service delivery to our clients. Martin also oversees all Internal Audits engagements across the global DM Group.
Martin is Chairman of the Expert Group in Operational Resilience and Outsourcing within the Dutch Fund and Asset Management Association.
Sebastiaan Koene
Senior Manager
Sebastiaan joined Solutional (now DM Netherlands) in 2011 where he is now Senior Manager Risk, Integrated Control & Assurance. He is a qualified auditor (Dutch: ‘Registered Accountant’) and is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). Sebastiaan has extensive expertise in Internal Audit engagements and drives developments in DM’s inhouse developed Solprofs application and the Solutional Audit Methodology. He is also the Compliance Officer at DM Netherlands.
Rob Aalten
Manager
Rob joined Solutional (now DM Netherlands) in 2016 after completing his bachelor’s degree in business economics. He hold a Master’s Degree in Accounting and Control from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam which he completed in 2019. Rob’s current role is Manager, DM Netherlands working exclusively in the areas of Risk, Integrated Control and Assurance and Consulting. Rob is working towards finalising his Postgraduate degree in Auditing at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam aiming to become a Qualified Auditor.
Laurens Bentvelzen
Senior Associate
Laurens joined the Solutional (now DM Netherlands) Assurance and Internal Audit team in 2020. He holds a Master’s Degree in Accounting and Control from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Laurens is currently working on his Postgraduate Degree in Auditing at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam to become a Qualified Auditor.
